Course Overview:

This course covers theory sessions, through to designing vertical and highly deviated drill strings.

Course Contents include:

• Drill string components
• Combination of drill string components
• Drill string design outline
• Simple and combined drill string calculations for vertical wells
• Drill string calculations for deviated wells
• WOB in deviated and curving well bores
• Bending and stiffness ratios for components
• Buckling in deviated and curving well bores
• Position of tension = 0 point
• Position of Neutral point for buckling
• String stretch calculations
• Back-off theory for vertical and deviated wells

Course Pre-Qualification: The course is technical in nature and intended for those who have a significant amount of experience on the rig site or have formal qualification of HND or higher in engineering and are competent in mathematics to Standard Grade. The course language is Advanced Level English.

A certificate will be issued on satisfactory completion of the training
